Did Vlaar score his penalty against Argentina?
So did Ron Vlaar score his penalty against Argentina after all? Was it a strange spin that took the ball back over the line, or did he somehow touch it with his shoulder? Here is the film by one of the spectators in the stadium.
What a result last night.

World Cup Quarter Final tips
Gareth’s Tip for todays’ Quarter Finals: Brazil 15/8 to score in both halves
25/1 for the 1st Goal in the France V Germany will be an own goal – Brazil 15/8 to score in both halves
The first two quarter finals of the 2014 World Cup take place on Friday with the betting suggesting that host nations Brazil (20/23) will progress to the semi-finals. Brazil are 2/5 to qualify with Colombia on offer at 7/4 to send the five times World Champions out.
Brazil are priced at 15/8 to score in both halves with 15/8 also on offer for Luiz Felipe Scolario’s side to keep a clean sheet.
Friday’s first quarter final sees probably the most anticipated clash of the quarter finals with France taking on Germany. The Les Bleus are 9/4 to win in 90 minutes with Germany priced at 7/5 whilst a draw is on offer at 9/4.
The first goal to be credited as an own goal can be backed at 25/1 with France to keep a clean sheet currently a 10/3 shot. Germany can be backed at 29/10 to score in both halves with Joachim Low’s squad 4/6 to qualify for the World Cup semi-finals.
Liam Glynn, PR Executive at Boylesports said: “After a two day break the World Cup returns on Friday and certainly both Brazil and Germany are proving the popular double with punters at present.”
He added “Punters have a range of markets to choose from in both of Friday’s quarter-finals with our traders reporting that Brazil to win both halves at 15/8 is attracting support and they have reported that the 15/8 is likely to dry up before kick-off.”

Suarez ridiculed on Twitter
It was inevitable that the Luis Suarez biting incident in the Italy v Uruguay match would create a social media storm. Humour is never far away from that. Here are a few of our current favourites.
Suarez fitted with protective headgear for his next match, the little extra he provided with his autograph, and the poster outside the Norwegian betting shop giving odds of 175/1 on Suarez biting another player. Did anyone get the big payout is the question….
England can still qualify
Last night’s result was not the one the country was expecting, and the fact that it was Suarez who hammered the nails in the coffin didn’t help. But it is not quid all over yet. England can still qualify, even after losing the first 2 matches.
A lot depends on Italy. First of all they need to beat Costa Rica at 17:00 today, any other result would mean England are out. And then they need to beat Uruguay, and England will have to beat Costa Rica in their last match. Then it is down to goal difference. It can’t get any tighter than that.
It could be worse and you could be Spanish, when you know you’re out already. Let’s support the team all the way to the finish.
Here are Englands odds to still qualify for the next round.
Goal keeper blunder in the Russia v Korea game.
There’s nothing like a goalkeeper blunder to generate unintended hilarity. Unless you are the goalkeeper in question perhaps, or a fan of the team.
In last night’s match it was the turn of Russia’s goalkeeper to take his eye off the ball and let through what looked like a very easy save. Oh dear…
